Si leyeron este post de hace un mes sabrán que fui a ver al exhibición de Mario Testino: In Your Face. Y también deberán haber leído que había escrito algo al respecto que iba a publicar por otro medio. Pero ese proyecto lamentablemente murió así que he aquí mi composición. Originalmente está escrito en inglés y en inglés se los presento - aunque si me piden que lo traduzca puedo llegar a hacerlo. (No esperen nada muy elaborado porque soy una super principiante en el asunto).
PD: no busquen "in your face" en Tumblr a menos que estén buscando pornografía.

If you read this post from a month ago you know I went to see Mario Testino's exhibition: In Your Face. And you also know that I had written something about that was going to be published somewhere else. But that project sadly died so here's my text. (Do not expect anything great because I'm a super rookie at this).
PS: do not look for "in your face" in Tumblr unless you're looking for porn.

If you don’t know Mario Testino, chances are you don’t know any fashion photographers. This 59-yeard-old Peruvian gentleman has one of the most important and fructiferous careers in the fashion world; he’s been featured several times in the most important magazines like Vogue or Vanity Fair and has shot and incredibly long list of celebrities, for example Kate Moss, Gisele Bündchen and Princess Diana of Wales, among many others.

In Your Face is a book and also an exposition, both curated by Testino himself, which feature some of his most important pictures. They have already been all around the world and now land in Argentina. This is the first time there’s a Mario Testino exhibition in the southernmost country of the globe and its inhabitants will be able to visit the works of art at the MALBA (Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires, or Museum of Latin-American Art of Buenos Aires) until June 9^th, 2014.

The first thing visitors notice when they arrive to the second floor of the museum, dedicated exclusively to In Your Face, is a big screen with various short videos that feature Mario Testino speaking, dancing, or other people talking about him. In the adjacent wall, there are a few quotes from the photographer, both in English and Spanish. After that, they enter a barely illuminated series of rooms with 122 masterpieces.

The photographs are everything you’d expect them to be, and more. They’re cool, provocative, eye-catching, with Testino’s unique signature, and – BAM! - in your face. Even though he’s a fashion photographer and that may have a negative connotation for most art aficionados, the pictures don’t fail to produce an impact in the public – and, needless to say, the quality is also impeccable. Moreover, if you care to read a rookie’s opinion, let me add that it was my favorite exhibition in the whole museum.
